The pigeons, true masters of the art of intrusiveness, have decided that your splendid penthouses are the perfect place to party. But you won’t stand for it! Armed with cunning, a desire for cleanliness, and a hint of competition, you are ready to reclaim your terraces as guano-free zones. Will you be able to turn these annoying birds into trophies to display with pride? Let the battle of birdseed and tricks begin!

Objective

Setup

Compose the Flock deck based on the number of players:

Number of Players Fat
(Grasso)
Infamous
(Infame)
Lady Pigeon
(Picciona)
Stupid
(Stupido)
Lame
(Zoppo)
2 – 3 6 3 3 5 5
4 8 4 3 6 6
5 10 5 3 7 7
6 12 6 4 8 8
  1. Shuffle the newly composed Flock deck and place it face down at the center of the table. Leave any excess Flock cards in the box.
  2. Shuffle the Action card deck and place it face down at the center of the table.
  3. Arrange the Location cards around the two decks in the center of the table. The Location cards must be placed with the illustrated side visible.
  4. Draw and place one face-up Flock card in front of each Location card and each player. During this phase, it is not necessary to follow the placement rules for Flock cards.
  5. Leave a space for the discard pile.
  6. Each player draws 3 Action cards, forming their starting hand.

Game Spaces

In the game, pigeons can be found in different spaces:

  1. Locations: The Street, the High Voltage Wires, the Statue, and the Crowd are the four cards that make up the city. The Statue and High Voltage Wires can “host” a maximum of 4 Pigeons, while the Street and the Crowd have no limits.
  2. Balcony: These are the spaces in front of each player. There is no limit to the number of Pigeons that can infest a balcony.

How to play?

The player who best imitates a pigeon’s cooing goes first. The game then proceeds clockwise.

Available Actions During a Turn
Each player must perform exactly two actions per turn, even repeating the same one, choosing freely from the following three options:

  1. Draw cards until holding 5 Action cards – If the Action card deck runs out during the game, reshuffle the previously discarded cards.
  2. Play an Action card and apply its effects – A player’s actions may trigger reactions from others. Some cards include two instructions: one to be used during the player’s turn (A) and another for reactions (R). Each player may play only one reaction card per triggering event. This sequence of “actions” and “reactions” may create a chain of various cards, which are discarded only at the end of the phase called “The Invasion Continues”.
  3. Convert cards on their own Balcony into Trophies – The player may:
    • Convert a Guano card into a Trophy by discarding 1 Action card from their hand.
    • Convert a Mountain of Guano card into a Trophy by discarding 2 Action cards from their hand.
    • Convert a Pigeon into a Trophy by discarding 2 Action cards from their hand.

The Invasion Continues

At the end of their turn, the player collects all played cards (Action and Reaction), then draws one Flock card plus as many additional Flock cards as indicated by the “Call” icons on the cards played. For example, if the total “Call” value is 1 + 3, the player draws 4 Flock cards.

Flock cards are drawn one at a time until the invasion is complete. The special rule of each pigeon must be resolved before drawing the next Flock card.
At this point, all played Action cards are discarded. The player’s turn ends, and the next player will play their turn.

The Nightmare Ends… Maybe

When the Flock deck runs out, the final phase of the game begins. Each player takes one last turn.

However, be careful: if any game action causes one or more pigeons to return to the Flock deck, such as due to the effect of the Infamous Pigeon, the game resumes. A new final phase can be triggered when the Flock deck is empty again. In other words, the game cannot end if there are still pigeons ready to glide over the city…

So, Who Wins?

At the end of the game, each player adds up their Victory Points (VP) according to these simple rules:

Trophies:
  • Mountain of Guano cards converted into Trophies: +2 VP each
  • Flock and Guano cards converted into Trophies: +1 VP each
On the Balcony:
  • Mountain of Guano cards still on the Balcony: -2 VP each
  • Guano and Pigeon cards still on the Balcony: -1 VP each

It is possible for the game to end in a tie between two or more players.

A Sneak Peek at the Cards

Before starting, it might be helpful to take a look at the cards to better understand how they work.

Flock Cards:

Fat Pigeon (Piccione Grasso)

  • Takes up as much space as two pigeons (so be mindful of where you place it…).
  • Since it’s not exactly an expert flyer, when it leaves the Flock, it enters the game following a strict priority order, summarized on the card:
    1. Statue
    2. High Voltage Wires
    3. If neither is available, the player may choose between the Street or the Crowd.
  • Wherever it lands, when you actively play a Guano or Mountain of Guano card, you can dump unlimited amounts.

The Lady Pigeon (La Picciona)

  • Enters the game on the Statue, among the Crowd, or on the High Voltage Wires.
  • When it moves, it immediately drags another Pigeon of your choice along with it. Exceptionally, this second pigeon ignores the normal placement limits of the Statue and High Voltage Wires.

Lame Pigeon (Piccione Zoppo)

  • Enters the game among the Crowd or on the Statue.
  • Due to its condition, it can never be placed on the High Voltage Wires.

Infamous Pigeon (Piccione Infame)

  • Enters the game directly onto the Balcony of the player who drew it from the Flock deck…
  • True to its name, wherever it arrives, all players may immediately react by playing a Guano or Mountain of Guano card, placing it anywhere the Infamous Pigeon lands.
  • Additionally, the Infamous Pigeon always escapes capture, returning to the Flock deck and sacrificing another pigeon in its place (in that case, transform the top card of the Flock deck into a Trophy).

Stupid Pigeon (Piccione Stupido)

  • Enters the game on the Statue, among the Crowd, or on the High Voltage Wires.
  • Due to its condition, it is immune to fear, so don’t think you can scare it away…
  • Normally, it would never go to the Street, but how can it resist birdseed scattered on the pavement?
  • It follows The Lady Pigeon anywhere, which is the only reason it might willingly step onto the Street.

Action Cards:

Blam!

This is the basic method used by exasperated citizens to get rid of those pesky birds…
The Blam! card converts one pigeon on your Balcony into a Trophy or two pigeons on the Statue into Trophies. Any other pigeons in the area (except for the Stupid one) will be scared off and fly to the least crowded location or Balcony. In case of a tie, they return to the Flock (reshuffle the deck).

Birdseed (Becchime)

Since pigeons are greedy, using this card causes mass migrations.
The Birdseed card moves one pigeon from each location and each Balcony to a new Location of your choice, with no space limits. Beware of the Lady Pigeon, as she can trigger even bigger migrations…
Additionally, you can use this card in reaction to pigeons landing on your Balcony to move them elsewhere.

Wroom!

The most radical method available to exasperated citizens.
The Wroom! card converts all pigeons on the Road into Trophies.
If two or more players react by playing Wroom!, the transformed Trophies are distributed evenly, starting with the current player: one for me, one for you, one for them… and so on.

Zot!

Some things happen when you land on High Voltage Cables
The Zot! card converts all pigeons on the High Voltage Cables into Trophies.
If two or more players react by playing Zot!, the transformed Trophies are distributed evenly, starting with the current player.

Fine (Multa)

Feeding pigeons is strictly forbidden, as is contributing to the city’s filth!
Use this card in reaction to Birdseed, Guano, or Mountains of Guano to make your opponents discard all the cards in their hands.

Diligent Street Cleaner (Spazzino Diligente)

  • As an action, this card helps keep the city clean by removing all Guano and Mountain of Guano cards from a location or Balcony, converting them into a single Trophy (only one of these cards becomes a Trophy, the others are discarded).
  • As a reaction, due to your diligence, this card can save you from a Fine.

Guano / Mountain of Guano (Montagna di Guano)

The main reason why citizens are exasperated.
Playing these cards where pigeons are present has obvious consequences.
There’s not much else to say, except be VERY careful where you place Fat Pigeons, since there’s a direct correlation between food intake and… well… output.
Also, there’s a strange interaction between the Infamous Pigeon and the amount of guano left on Balconies.

These cards do not generate Call Icons.

About Pigeons and Guano…

It seems that one of the pigeons (the Infamous one is the prime suspect…) tried to sabotage the production of this game…
